HArry sittler

Harry Sittler, was a legendary driver from St. Catharines, Ontario,  who has left an lasting mark on the racing world. With a career spanning over five decades racing at many tracks, Harry's remarkable journey is a testament to his unwavering dedication, unrelenting perseverance, and genuine passion for the sport of racing.

Introduced to racing by friend Cecil Kerr in the 1960s, Harry's formative years were shaped by his father, Andrew, who tirelessly flat-towed his cars to rural Thorold for Jalopy Division competitions. As the Jalopies evolved into Late Models, Harry adapted, driving full-fendered cars until 1974. His father's unwavering support was instrumental in Harry's early success in racing.

A pivotal moment in Harry's career came in 1974 when he partnered with car owner Ray Stevens, marking the beginning of a successful collaboration. However, when Stevens' son, Brian, joined the Modified Division, Harry sought new opportunities, driving for owners Wilf and Elsie Fiegel before purchasing his first Modified from the Stevens. This bold move marked a defining moment in Harry's career, as he embraced the challenges and responsibilities of being a car owner and driver .

Throughout his illustrious career, Harry has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. A devastating accident in 1992 left him injured, but he refused to let it derail his passion for racing. With the unwavering support of his family, friends, and fans, Harry made a determined comeback, driven by his unrelenting passion for the sport. The racing community rallied around him, with fans at Ransomville and Merrittville contributing to a collection that helped him get back on track.

As a skilled mechanic and driver, Harry's impact extended far beyond his own career. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, sharing his expertise to launch the careers of numerous drivers over the years.

Harry's well-deserved induction into the Merrittville Speedway Wall of Fame serves as a testament to his enduring legacy. 

His inspiring story will continue to motivate future generations of drivers and racing enthusiasts, cementing his place 

as one of the best drivers to ever race on dirt. 

Denny Lindberg

Denny Lindberg, was a respected figure in the dirt modified racing world, known for his passion, grit, and dedication. As the father of current standout Gary Lindberg, Denny played a pivotal role in passing down his racing knowledge and love for the track. 

Throughout his own career, Denny competed alongside some of the sport’s greats, including Harry Sittler who is the father of Sittler Motorsports owner Andrew Sittler. That long-standing connection between the Lindberg and Sittler families has helped shape generations of racers, with Denny’s experience and mentorship forming the foundation of Gary’s success on the dirt. 

Although Denny has since stepped out of the driver’s seat, his presence is still felt every weekend. Denny continues to watch proudly as Gary carries on the family tradition, and in every lap Gary turns and every victory he earns, he races with his father’s passion, guidance, and unwavering support fueling him forward to that next checkered flag.
